Hearing about Mike Joplin recently got me reading some of his bodyweight exercise methods. To me his methods are pretty simple but have variety. Here is something he said in one of those interviews: And I never change my exercises. I simply change the way I do them (grip, position of hands and feet, speed, body angle, etc.)
He pretty much stayed with basic exercises that involved the planes of motion. Here is a list of his exercises according to one of the articles:
Resistance Training Exercises (all bodyweight exercises except for one):
Pull ups
Inverted rows
Deadlifts (once a week, 1 set of 3 reps — just to lift something heavier than my body weight once a week)
Chest and Triceps push ups (feet always slightly elevated)
Leg raises
Ab wheel
Windshield vipers for abs
Bicycles for abs
Squats
Sissy squats
Bodyweight ham curls
Wall sits
I do like this idea of sticking to basic exercises but changing the way I do them. I know some get bored but if you don't you can really see the progress when you're consistent with certain exercises. My questions to You Guys is do You stick to certain exercises? What are those exercises? What reasons have you found this to be a good way to go? What have been your results?
I also like the same exercises but perform them as subsequent sets or as circuits. Sometimes, if I feel that my body requires that, I switch from my co-contraction workout to exercises with a stick and vise versa
