Agree with everything you wrote. Just common sense.
I hope my comments did not sound too negative, disapproving, or critical, not my intention, just my opinion. I am critical of health fads and exaggerations. Example: I take several supplements and I do think they are helpful, otherwise I wouldn’t be taking them. I just don’t buy into the exaggerated claims made by many “pushers” of these supplements. And I do believe that supplements are just that, supplements not replacements or miracle cures.
Eating is just like most things in life, common sense should direct our choices. If you’re allergic to strawberries or shellfish, don’t eat them. But don’t go around exclaiming to the world that they are bad for everyone. I am allergic to scallops, just scallops, and I love them, but I don’t eat them. Everyone else in my family eats and enjoys them. Some people may be allergic to a protein in wheat (celiac disease), most people are not.
Common sense: eat smart, don’t over eat, eat as fresh as you can when ever you can, limit processed foods as much as possible, and question any “new discoveries and diets”. Like Michael said" I also believe a more balance approach is the best." I Strongly agree.
One last thing no matter what you eat you are on a diet. And if you don’t eat you’re still on a diet, a “no food diet”.!!!!
Interesting, but I don’t think that the government’s recommendations really matters to anyone and I doubt that they influenced anyone other than a very small percent of the population. I think that people are more driven by convince (laziness), advertising (again laziness), and price than anything the government recommends or publishes. Hemp oil – my opinion: overrated, exaggerated fad and in time will fade away like all the other “magic health food discoveries”.
You know Greg I think everyone has their own agenda when it comes to nutrition. You know I'm not a political person. Of course when they talk about grains and bread that's just a general statement. People that eat the stuff that is processed with the vitamins and minerals depleted out of them they will get fat. I know for myself, I'm not vegan or a vegatarian, when I eat smaller portions of meat I feel so much better. I think the more fruits and vegetables we eat the better. I also believe a more balance approach is the best. My personal diet approach is that of Clarence Bass. His HEART approch to diet is really good for health.
