I am lucky and my second wife and sons support my fight against my aging and disease. Following my example, she SOMETIMES performs strengthening and Yoga exercises. However, I know two couples when the relatives, in general the wives, consider training their husbands as just wasting time. My first wife had the same opinion.
Do your relatives support you in your wanting to be stronger and healthy?

Pretty much like Michael's situation. My wife and I live in a good sized house with our eldest daughter, her husband and their child/our grandchild age 10 months. My wife has MS, diagnosed way back in 1979, before we were even married, but she's tough, never complains and always keeps a positive attitude. I started working out years ago when I was 16 and have always kept at it. Just part of my DNA I guess. Done free weights, bands, Nautilus, etc. Some parts of this worked out better than others, but I never missed workouts whether it was cals, free weights, whatever. My family, including our youngest daughter (she and her husband live 45 minutes away and are workout fanatics as well) understand that Dad is gonna get his work in and that's a given. I used to get up at 3:30 in the A.M. because I opened up at work at 7 A.M. and needed to get my w/o in, breakfast and a shower before anything else. I'm 73 now, and with the injuries from weights, sports (lot of hockey) I can't begin to do what I could do when I was younger (I know, I know - when dinosaurs walked the earth) but I love what I do. No complaints, but I do regret that I didn't know more about what I was doing when I did all this starting in 1960. Information like what we have here sure would've been helpful, but it is what it is. Sorry for the length of all this but its been a truly major part of my life, and I've tried to give back to others I knew along the way with things I learned. Now - I think its time for this old guy to shut up and knock off my pushups.
Honestly my son's could care less if I exercise. My youngest son likes to play alot of sports. My oldest son is a Marine. My wife supports me and she exercises. I do my workouts while everyone is sound asleep so what I do doesn't bother anyone. For me exercise enhances my life and a hobby.
