What are Power Flexes? It's just flexing Your muscles like a bodybuilder does. Do I know there history ? I have no idea of their history. I first found them in,"Isometric Power Revolution". Later on Someone posted Tom Buckley's course ( which I printed the exercises out) on another board. I like Tom Buckley's course better. There were a couple of exercises that were differant and I could get a better contraction.
Is Power Flexing the be all end all? Nothing is, everyone has differant likes and goals. Are You going to get a build like a bodybuilder? I don't think so but I heard some bodybuilders got more separation in their muscles by using them. Will that happen with You? I'd be a liar if I told You that. There are definetly benefits one can get from them. Your results and benefits will be differant than mine.
I have used many ways to rehab from work injuries. Some may disagree with me but I have used what I call Power Flex Pulses to rehab injuries. I don't remember what Steve Justas called them but he had something similar in his book," Rock, Iron and Steel". All You're doing with these is 1 to 2 second flexes for reps. I preferred 10-20 reps.
I had a really fun experience with the Tom Buckley course. I decided I was going to concentrate on a 100 reps of pushups, squats and crunches daily. Afterward I did the Tom Buckley Flexes which took 10 minutes. I did that routine 5 to 6 days a week.
One Saturday I got to a tree job we were going to be doing that day. It was alot of dragging and carrying logs up a hill. I thought to myself, '' I'm going to be sore tomorrow". A 10 hour day like that usually does give me sore legs, back or both. But to my surprise I was not sore that day or the day after. Before that workout routine I was doing high volume pushups. So the only thing I feel help me not get sore was the Tom Buckley Flexes.
Greg to be totally honest, body change wise there's only three things that change with certain things I do. Waist size, weight and arm size. The waist size depends as does the weight. With arm size I may get a quarter inch in size if I work my arms, not much at all. Muscles tend to take on a slightly differant look with differant training proticals. I don't change much at this stage.
With that routine I stayed on it for about 6 weeks. Look wise there was really no change. Didn't lose or gain size. My body felt really good, muscle endurance, and injuries stayed at bay from work.
I have noticed when I do a lot of manual labor, do a martial arts workout, run etc. I recover better if I do a set of the Tiger Moves afterwards or Isometric Flexing. I am curious, how long did you stay on this routine and what were the other results from it?
i am with you
Thank You sir the same to You! I think that course is well worth a goal health and joint wise. There is a couple of exercises that are repeated. If You get rid of those You have about a 10 minute routine. My opinion is one hold for each exercise. If You go by seconds my estimate is 10 seconds. But I prefer one inhale and exhale (one Breath).
Michael, I have the Tom Buckley program myself - got to go look at that again. Thanks for the reminder, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
